Turkish tea is a strong, flavorful black tea traditionally brewed using a two-part teapot system. Here's a simple recipe to make Turkish tea at home.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons Turkish black tea leaves (or any strong black tea)
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups boiling water (for the teapot)
  • Sugar to taste (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tea:

    • In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Brew the Tea:

    • Place 2 tablespoons of Turkish black tea leaves into the top part of a traditional Turkish teapot (çaydanlık) or any heatproof teapot.
  3. Add Boiling Water:

    • Pour the 2 cups of boiling water over the tea leaves in the teapot. Let it steep for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Prepare to Serve:

    • Boil an additional 2 cups of water. This will be used to dilute the concentrated tea when serving.
    • Pour the brewed tea from the teapot into cups, filling them halfway.
  5. Dilute and Sweeten:

    • Add the hot water to each cup, adjusting the strength of the tea to your taste.
    • Add sugar if desired and stir well.
  6. Serve:

    • Serve hot, and enjoy your Turkish tea with some Turkish delight or pastries if you like.
