Chinese Tea Recipe
Chinese tea is known for its delicate flavors and rich traditions. Here’s a simple recipe for making a classic Chinese green tea, which is light and refreshing.
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon loose Chinese green tea leaves (such as Dragon Well or Gunpowder tea)
- 1 cup water (preferably filtered)
- Optional: a small slice of fresh ginger or a few mint leaves
Instructions:
Heat Water:
- In a kettle, heat 1 cup of water to about 175°F (80°C). Avoid boiling water as it can make green tea taste bitter.
Prepare the Tea:
- Place 1 teaspoon of loose Chinese green tea leaves into a teapot or infuser.
Steep the Tea:
- Pour the hot water over the tea leaves.
- Let the tea steep for 2-3 minutes. Steeping too long can make it bitter.
Strain and Serve:
- Remove the tea leaves or infuser.
- If desired, add a small slice of fresh ginger or a few mint leaves for additional flavor.
- Serve hot.
Tips:
- Multiple Infusions: Chinese green tea leaves can often be steeped multiple times. Add more hot water to the leaves and steep again for a lighter flavor.
- Tea Quality: For the best results, use high-quality loose tea leaves rather than tea bags.
Enjoy your refreshing Chinese green tea!
